First thing you need to figure out is the location of the leak. You can run a dry towel between the mattress and the liner to discover the leak but sometimes the leaks can be hard to discover. In this case, put pressure on the mattress using your elbow and knees to force a leak. Once you've found the leak, mark the area.

Before you get to fixing the leak, make sure you clean and dry the affected area first. You should have a waterbed repair kit that came with your waterbed mattress.

Trim the repair vinyl slightly larger than the damaged area itself, usually about an inch. Apply the repair glue on the patch itself and around the punctured spot as well. Gently apply the patch with gentle pressure. Make sure you seal off the edges of the patch as well. Avoid heavy pressure when putting the patch on as it will force the patch out before the glue can dry.

Step 4 of How to repair a waterbed mattress

Let the glue set in and dry completely, which shouldn't take longer than half an hour. Wait about 4 hours before you test the mattress out.

That's it! You've just completed all the steps necessary on how to repair a waterbed mattress and your mattress should be as good as new.
